PhelpsForward aids first generation college women who are interested in pursuing careers in the financial services industry within the areas of finance or technology. We help these women better understand: who they are, what specific work excites them, which careers facilitate that work and the skill sets they must acquire to succeed in their careers. We then ascertain what finance and tech internships or jobs best suit their interests, skills and income needs at each stage of their early career.

Prior to interviewing with any employer, college freshman who have been selected to join Phelps Forward due to their qualifications and interests go through an intensive, three year, career development program beginning just before their sophomore year. This program is designed to lead them toward jobs for which they are well suited in terms of background, personality, interests, ideal work environment, learning and work styles, as well as their skill sets and experience.

We ask that interested students contact Phelps Forward Freshman year, anytime after January. PF's college program begins the summer before your sophomore year of college. PF Scholars have come from the schools listed below. You can apply by sending an email to You will learn valuable insights even as part of the application process about preparing for your career track.

"Being a PhelpsForward scholar and having Alicia as a mentor has been one of the best decisions I have made. She helped me discover my interest in fintech and is exposing me to the great opportunities within that field. She has really made an effort to get to know me, as I'm sure she does with all the other scholars in my cohort. She offers plenty of resources to help us really get to know our interests and strengths. I found this to be extremely helpful, especially as a Sophomore who is the process of choosing what track in Computer Science to pursue. She really cares about her scholars and wants us to succeed, as shown by the dedication she puts into doing all the great work she does."

"My gratitude for Alicia and her program, Phelps Forward, is tremendous. As a first generation woman, I felt limited by my knowledge and resources as I began exploring my interest for a career in finance. The access, counseling, and trainings Alicia provides to each and every scholar are completely transformative. Alicia truly cares about all her scholars, taking the time to understand all of us, our individual backgrounds, and goals. It is an amazing feeling to have someone as inspiring and professional as Alicia advocate on my behalf. I feel very confident about my future and the possibilities that will be available to me-- and for that I greatly thank Alicia!"
